Files menu

Teamwork often involves collaborating while entering and updating data in shared files. Working together often means just that – the ability for multiple people to work on one document at a time. Where are the documents kept? Those you share in the channel are part of the SharePoint OnLine folder while the files you share, during private or group Chat, are stored in the OneDrive for Business repository and can only be accessed by chat participants.

By entering the Files menu you will have the opportunity to access shared files. The Recent menu shows the files you last accessed. Microsoft Teams shows the files located in the team’s SharePoint OnLine folder, while OneDrive displays the files stored in this repository.

At the top of the window you will see a menu with several options. By clicking on New you can create a new Office document, Upload is used to add documents to One Drive, Sync for synchronization, Copy link to share the link to the selected document. Open in One Drive opens the OneDrive service in a new Internet browser tab.

There is an Add Cloud Storage button in the lower left corner of the screen. Clicking on it will open a window that allows you to add an additional data repository (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox) and connect to it in order to share documents.
