Paste Special calculations

The Paste Special option provides a number of ways to manipulate the values that need to be pasted back into the document. One of them is calculation, where it is possible to select a cell that contains a value, and then a range with values for calculation that will perform one of the four elementary mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). This can increase productivity, let’s see how it is used!

In the example we have a simple table with the names of the cities and the sales values in them. Above it is the cell in which we entered the euro exchange rate. Our goal is to divide the value of sales in Serbian dinars with the current exchange rate to get sales in euros.

First you need to click on the cell with the exchange rate, make a copy (CTRL + C), and then select the sales values in the second column. We will open the Paste Special menu, and then select the option of the same name at the bottom. A dialog box will open at the bottom of which is the Operation option group. None means that we do not perform calculations, while Add, Subtract, Multiply and Divide mean respectively: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will choose the last option. After clicking OK, the values of sales in euros will appear in the table.
