Quick Insights
In similar way to the newer versions of Excel PowerBI offers a mechanism that, based on a given dataset, can provide you with visuals, usually the charts that best represent your data. These can be: columns, bars, pie charts … At the same time, along with each one a brief description is provided on the basis of which you can conclude why this visual is proposed. Get ready to know Quick Insights!
In order to use this functionality, after logging into PowerBI, you need to select the desired dataset. Then, right of its name, should click on the “…” and the sub-menu opens with several options in which you need to select Quick Insights. After a few moments PowerBI will processes the data and when this operation is completed the text with the notification “Insights are ready” will appear. By clicking the View Insights button you can see the suggested visuals.
The results are shown as a set of tiles. Each of them represents one visual. There are two icons in its upper right corner. By clicking on the one that resembles a pin, you will put the suggested visual on selected dashboard. The second icon (Focus Mode) allows you to focus on the selected visual. In particular, if this is a chart, this option will maximize it. In the menu above now you can see the Get Insights icon. Clicking on it opens menu on the right where you can see a list of all other suggested visuals.
You can always return to set of visuals, once created by Quick insights option. To do this, go to the chosen dataset, open the menu, and access the View Insights option.
