New Slicer visual

Slicers are interactive objects used to filter pages or the entire Power BI report. They haven’t changed much since their inception, and since they represent an essential component of the report, they got a small facelift. Since November, a new Button Slicer visualization has appeared, which has the properties of traditional slicers, as well as some additional formatting options that make it much more beautiful. Let’s see what it has to offer!

Button appearance

Buttons in Power BI reports are used to navigate between different pages of the report, so in addition to the functional aspect, it is important that they look nice. When you add a blank button, Power BI Desktop provides many options for formatting its appearance. Since recently it is possible to add images that will represent a button, and also to select different images for different states (default, mouse over, click etc.)

Controls

Excel offers you to add controls to documents, the same elements that you can find in windows and dialog boxes, and they enable choosing values, checking options, adding labels, choosing from list objects… Adding control to a worksheet increases interactivity between user and reports. In this way, you can easily create different polls and save the results in a form suitable for further processing.
