Ribbon visual

Ribbon is a new visualization that has recently become part of the Power BI reporting platform. When is it used? If you want to show some indicators, for example sales revenue or total costs in relation to time, you will use either a Line or Column chart. If you hesitate between these two visualizations, you can use Ribbon, which represents the best of both!

Summarizing in gross

The old word angro, sometimes used in the Serbian language, comes from the French term “en gros” which means “in gross”, “wholesale” … It served me as the inspiration for the title, and in the text I want to show you advanced possibilities when using the SUM function. Let’s see in what, not very common, ways we can give it arguments and summarize the data.

Histogram

Histogram is a diagram that is used for the graphical presentation of the statistical distribution of  values. It consists of columns, arranged in descending order, which represent the frequency of their repetition. Excel 2016 provides the ability to create two types of charts: Histogram and Pareto. Pareto differs in that it is a combination of two charts: columns and lines. Columns show values, and the line illustrates their cumulative growth.

Power BI Desktop visuals

Purpose of PowerBI Desktop application is to create reports on a local machine and publish them in the cloud for users who can see them anytime, at any moment, by Internet browser on a PC or a mobile device. Managers need to get clear, simple and visually nice reports. It seems that PowerBI meets all given criteria. In a text that follows I will describe various ways to create reports in PowerBI Desktop.

Cell content testing

There are several functions in Excel that literally serve to “find the cell in time and space”. They can be used to identify the row and column in which the cell is located, count the rows or columns, determine the type of value that the cell contains … By themselves, these functions are seldom used. In combination with other functions, in conditional formatting, and especially with data validation, they can be irreplaceable.
