Autosave and versioning
Automatic saving of Excel documents has been around for a very long time. If you go to Excel Options, in the Save section, you will see the option to Save Autorecover Information Every… and the number of minutes after which the saving is performed. However, this works if your computer resets or for some other reason stops working. With the advent of the OneDrive repository and storing documents on it, we got a new, better Autosave…
How do I turn on automatic saving in the OneDrive repository? Use the Autosave slider located in the upper left corner of the screen, within the Quick Access toolbar.
When you turn on this option, it is enough to continue working in Excel. After each change document will be saved to OneDrive, and from time to time it will get an updated version.
If, after a while, you realize that you made a mistake and want to go back to a previous version of the document, click File, and then select option Version History from the Info menu.
Above the worksheet, a bar will appear with a notification about the current version, and on the right, a panel will open where you can see all the previously saved versions. By selecting one of them, you automatically return that version of the document.
