Buttons
Appearance of the report is no longer only important thing, but also its interactivity. Therefore, new feature – buttons are added to PowerBI. These are graphic objects intended to give you a step backward, if you drilldown within the report, to launch a report that is recorded as a Bookmark or display a table/chart that was created as a result of a pre-designed question.
Adding a button is done from the Home ribbon, where in the Buttons menu you choose which graphic object you want to add. Then, you format it by adding text, changing the colour of an object or background, etc. Finally, in the Action settings group you need to choose which action to launch the added button. As already mentioned, it can be a return to the previous report, bookmark or question. Addition of action was possible even before, when setting the properties of graphic objects, but the buttons are much more flexible and easy to use.
In following example we have created a simple chart, then added a button that represents a question. By combining the mouse click and the CTRL key, in this case, a window will open in which you define a query- question derived as a combination of English, reporting dimensions and measures. After saving this will be a default report, as a result of the “Q & A” action. In a similar way we can also define some other actions that will be triggered by clicking on the chosen button.
