Creating teams

Teams aim to connect people, content and services while performing their daily work, in accordance with the current organizational structure, or when working on a joint project. Teams can be public (available to all members) or private (available only to invited members) and are made up of users who can be owners, members or guests. Let’s see how you can create a team!

By entering the Teams menu you can see all existing teams and channels, as well as the history of meetings and conversations. A new team is created by clicking the Join or create a team button. After starting this action, two options will appear in the central part of the screen: Create a Team and Join a team with a code. The first is for creating a new team, and the second for accessing the team using the code sent to you by the team owner.

If you decide to create a new team, you can do so from the beginning (From scratch), based on a group or an existing team (From group or a team) or based on one of the existing templates that you can see at the bottom of the window. The groups, listed in the second option, are existing Microsoft 365 groups. Let’s choose the option to create a team from the beginning …

In the following window, you need to select the type of team you are creating: Private, Public, or Org-wide. The latter type is also a public team, but when you select this option all members of the organization automatically become team members.

Then in the Team Name field you need to enter the name of the team, and in the Description field you can enter a short description of the team. Clicking the Create button creates a team. When you create a team it will automatically get a channel called General.
