Row/column shortcuts

When working with tables, there is often a need to manipulate rows and columns, and it is adding, deleting, hiding, or displaying hidden rows or columns. Manipulation is usually done by selecting some of the options from the Home toolbar, but there are several shortcuts that can help us perform these operations much faster.

If we want to insert a new cell into the table, we use the shortcut CTRL ++ (CTRL and “+”), and if we want to delete it we will use the shortcut CTRL + – (CTRL and “-“). In other words, by launching these actions, the Insert or Delete dialog box opens.

00006-1The Insert dialog box offers four options, from which we can select only one or cancel the selected operation. The options that are offered are: adding a new cell by moving the current cell to the right, adding a new cell by moving the current cell down, adding the order above the current cell, or adding a column in front of the current cell. Confirmation, which is done by clicking the OK button, will be selected. The Delete dialog box offers similar options, but they are related to deleting the current cell by moving cells or deleting rows or columns.

If we have previously selected a row or column, it is done, depending on the selected action, adding or deleting that row and / or column. If the selection has included multiple rows or multiple columns, the number of rows / columns added or deleted will be added as many as we selected them. For example, if we want to insert three new columns in front of the current cell, the fastest way to do this is to select the three columns on its left, and then press the CTRL ++ key combination.

We can also use shortcuts to hide rows or columns. By combining the CTRL + 9 key, we hide the current line, and with the combination of the CTRL + 0 key, we hide the current column. If we want to discover the previously hidden rows or columns, we will repeat this action by pressing SHIFT again. That is, CTRL + SHIFT + 9 reveals a hidden line, and CTRL + SHIFT + 0 reveals a hidden column.
