PBIT and PBIDS files

Power BI Desktop reports are stored in PBIX files that contain connections, datasets, transformations, visualizations, and other report elements. If you want to save reports without data, you will use the option of creating a template, by saving as a PBIT file. If you want to save only the link to the data source you will create a PBIDS file.

Export of documents

We are accustomed, when we want to change the type of Excel document, to save it under another name. However, in some recent versions of Excel, this operation is further facilitated. If we enter the Backstage view there we will find the Export menu that allows you to export directly to PDF or change the file type. Also, you can also directly add documents to Power BI.

Document templates

Excel has been here for more than 20 years. Although it can not be said that in its world “there is nothing new in the sky,” numerous problems that have been encountered by the rich Excel community, since its inception, have long been solved, and solutions can be downloaded from the Internet in the form of templates. In this text, we will say a word-two on how to find the right template for generating a document that solves the problem.

Chart templates

Companies often strive to unify their reports using predefined rules regarding choosing font types, color styles and other formatting modes. The unified look is introduced using Templates, and when we want to create charts, we will use chart templates. In addition to appearance, standard charts also introduce standard data ranges in axes, which contributes to the accuracy of the report.
