Error Checking Options

Excel has built-in functionality that allows automatic error checking when entering values in cells. Where he recognizes or finds error, a small green triangle in the upper left corner of the cell and a warning icon (a yellow diamond with an exclamation point) will appear. If you click on the icon then a menu will open that explains why the error occurred and offers a way to overcome it.

For example, if we enter numbers in the cells, Excel will automatically recognize them as numbers and assign them a right alignment. If we add an apostrophe in front of the number, this action emphasizes that the number is entered as text. This is usually done when we do not want to use the cell value in a budget. Excel will automatically warn us in the aforementioned way, and if we enter the error menu, it will display the Number Stored as Text notification. Also, we will be offered an action to convert the value to a number (Convert to Number), get help on this error, ignore the error, or update the value in the cell (Edit in Formula Bar).

The last option in the menu, Error Checking Options, opens the settings menu where you can determine whether and when the automatic error check will be activated, as well as the mechanisms that trigger the markup of errors.
