Lollipop chart

The most commonly used charts in Excel are Column and Bar Chart. Although they do the job perfectly, sometimes it is necessary to emphasize the displayed values. For this purpose, you can create a nice chart called “Lollipop” (or Lollypop). It is still not a part of Excel’s standard charts palette and in the following text I will show you how to create one by modifying the Clustered Column chart.

Export of documents

We are accustomed, when we want to change the type of Excel document, to save it under another name. However, in some recent versions of Excel, this operation is further facilitated. If we enter the Backstage view there we will find the Export menu that allows you to export directly to PDF or change the file type. Also, you can also directly add documents to Power BI.

Trigonometric functions

If you are someone who likes mathematics it will be useful for you to know that Excel has a lot of trigonometric functions, and we can use them whenever is necessary to plot your sinusoids. These are the functions of SIN (sine), COS (cosine), TAN (tangent), COT (cotangent), and there are many others as well. If you are curious you can easily find them in the Excel function library. How to draw a sinusoid?

3D models and icons

Excel 2019 comes with two new types of graphic object,; these are 3D models and icons. 3D models are vector models of objects that we can add from the location on the disk or the Internet, and serve to better illustrate the data in the table. For example, if table contains a work order 3D model may be the product design we make. Icons are 2D graphic objects (SVG) that we can use in a similar way.

Filled maps

Excel 2019 has got a new type of maps that we can use to illustrate the data from the spreadsheets we’ve made. Actually, this is just another chart that we can add from Insert ribbon or after launching the Recommended Charts option. It allows us to create filled maps, where each country from the given dataset is filled by a color according to given values.
