Conversations within channels

Microsoft Teams offers the ability to talk to two or more users via chat or within the channels of one of the teams. This is quite reminiscent of traditional chat, but there are a few differences, so it seems appropriate to set aside a special post for this topic. In this text, you will learn about several additional possibilities of cooperation within the channel, as well as how to add an application/service that will be used by all its members …

Teams and channels

The backbone of the Microsoft Teams service are teams and channels, which means participants in communication and places where information and files are exchanged and work is being done on joint projects. This text will describe the theoretical settings and basic principles of working with teams and channels, and in some of the following you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the practical details.

Dataflows

Power Query allows you, whether you use Excel or Power BI, to connect to numerous data sources, retrieve, transform, and use “refined” data to create reports. On that occasion, each step in the transformation process is recorded and, when you refresh the link to the source, the steps are repeated in the given order and you get tables of identical structure. What is a purpose of Dataflows?

Difference between distributions

It is often possible to see one or more points on the visuals that deviate from the normal distribution of the series. Recently, Power BI Desktop was given the Analyze option (at the time of publishing this text it is still in the experimental version) which allows insight into what is happening with the data, comparing the shares or absolute values of the series.

Anomaly detection

If we analyze the chart visuals, we can often notice points with disturbances on them. These can be e.g. days when unexpected sales values occurred, completely contrary to the planned trend. Power BI Desktop, in the visuals’ Analytics section, now has the Find Anomalies option that allows it to find points on the chart that are inconsistent with trends and point to them.
