Measuring the impact

Key Influencers is a visual that has been available to Power BI Desktop users since July 2019, and allows measuring the impact of a given component (dimension) on a reporting metric. It can be useful to show us components that differ from the average, as well as segments that affect it and require additional attention. The information we receive in this way can help us rethink our sales strategy.

Editing report elements

Since March 2018, PowerBI Desktop has several new options for viewing and editing reports. First, there is an option to highlight one visual in relation to others, which is in its context menu. And then, there are a few more options that allow you to capture your favorite report views, view and manage objects in a report, lock objects, show field properties, and a set way to synchronize slicers…

Quick Insights

In similar way to the newer versions of Excel PowerBI offers a mechanism that, based on a given dataset, can provide you with visuals, usually the charts that best represent your data. These can be: columns, bars, pie charts … At the same time, along with each one a brief description is provided on the basis of which you can conclude why this visual is proposed. Custom visuals

PowerBI Desktop has a number of tools for data visualization- visuals. They allow the data that is imported into Model to be used for creation carts, tables, variety of charts, slicers … Sometimes there is a need for specific visualization tools that are not offered in the standard range. We call them Custom visuals. You can find them all in the Office Store, download desired visual, install it, add appropriate data set and bring data to life!

Filtering of PowerBI reports

PowerBI reports can be filtered in a similar way as traditional Pivot or PowerPivot reports. Since one report is usually consisted of several visuals (tables, charts, cards, slicers) you could adjust a way that selected visual filters all other within a report that share same dataset. Also, you could filter a whole dataset by applying basic, advanced or Top n filters, which will be subject of a text that follows.
