Conditional formatting of charts

Conditional formatting is not new feature, but so far Power BI users have been able to use it exclusively in visuals that contain some sort of table. The novelty brought by the improved version of the november 2018 is that the Saturation field has been abolished, and the option for conditional formatting has been added instead. Let’s see what it brings!

Create a simple chart in which all data in the series is displayed in a single color, e.g. Column. If we go to the formatting menu for visual, then on Data Colors and further click on Advanced Controls, the dialog box for conditional formatting will open.

In this dialog box it is necessary to specify the formatting mode, then set the values and aggregation function on which the lowest and highest values in the chart are formatted. By highlighting the Diverging option, you can also add a “midpoint” so that we have a gradual transition from the lowest to the highest values. After entering the settings and confirming the selection, the result is a conditionally formatted chart.
